The Salem junior Greyhounds opened their 2004 football season with a long road trip to Marked Tree to scrap with the junior Indians.
Thanks in part to Marked Tree's John Ed Turpin, the junior Hounds didn't much enjoy their trip to Poinsett County.
Turpin rushed for 166 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the junior Indians knocked off Salem 38-6 in conference action.
Marked Tree sprinted out to a 38-0 lead before the junior Greyhounds managed to advance the scoreboard.
Salem's Blake Hurst broke loose for a 45-yard TD scamper with 38 seconds left in the game to keep the junior Greyhounds from being blanked.
