Velva Mae Flynn, age 90, of Mammoth Spring, Ark. was born May 17, 1914, in Fulton County, Ark., the daughter of Dempsey Burrow and Alice Maude Elizabeth Arwood-Burrow. She died Aug. 9, 2004, at Shady Oaks Healthcare Center in Thayer, Mo.
She married Earl Flynn on June 6, 1930, and they enjoyed 72 years together until his passing in 2002. She was a member of the Welcome Hill Church of Christ.
Survivors include four sons -- Dempsey Flynn and wife, Violet, of Royersford, Pa., Gene Flynn and wife, Esther May, Dell Flynn, and Howard Flynn and wife, Frances, all of Mammoth Spring; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Merle Peebles of Thayer, Mo.; two half-brothers -- Dempsey Burrow of Lonoke, Ark., and C.J. Burrow of Bald Knob, Ark.; two sister-in-laws -- Emma Flynn of Mammoth Spring, Ark., and Marie Burrow of Illinois and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents -- Dempsey Burrow and Alice Maude Elizabeth Arwood-Burrow; her husband, Earl George Flynn; an infant son, Robert Wayne Flynn; five brothers -- Clete, Freeman, Noble, Jack and Aaron Burrow; and two half-brothers -- Johnny and Eddie Burrow.
The funeral was Aug 12 at 10 a.m. at the Clary Chapel in Mammoth Spring with Erman Croney officiating. Burial was in the Fryatt Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Mammoth Spring.
