Carroll Rae Jones, 63, of Thayer, Mo., died March 14, 2004, in Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains.
Born Feb. 1, 1941, at Manarchie in Randolph County, Ark., he was the son of Clarence Alden and Addie Belle Ainley Jones.
He received his education in the Schools of Maynard, Ark., and attended the Louisville, Ky. College of Mortuary Science.
On July 10, 1990, he was married at Mammoth Spring, Ark., to Sharon Delaine Freeman.
He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army.
He worked for many years in the funeral service business both in Arkansas and southern Missouri. He was the former owner and operator of Springfield Mortuary Service in Springfield, Mo. He spent seven years as embalmer and funeral director with Carter Funeral Home in Thayer, and currently was employed at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
He also worked at Thayer Housing Authority as part of the maintenance personnel.
He was a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Sherrie Jones of the family home; four children -- Michael Keith of the home, and Max Jones, Rachel Schlichting and Jeannette Grisson, all of Carthage, Mo.; four sisters -- Geraldine Harris of Maynard, Norma Dean Carter of Rockford, Ill., Aldean Abshier of Maumelle, Ark., and Erma Hampton of Arnold, Mo.; two brothers -- Alden Jones of Pocahontas, Ark., and James Deryl Jones of Maynard; several nieces and nephews and his special friends, Jean Simmons, Michele and Dan Mulvaney, Connie Rogers, Debbie and Keith Smith, Boyd and Laverne Clark, Evelyn and Mark Mogiboney and Alissa Bullock and children.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside funeral service was held March 18 at the Jeff Cemetery in Thayer, Mo., with arrangements under the diection of the Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
