Lawrence "Larry" Barry, 83, of Thayer, Mo., was born June 4,1920, in Tennel Lake, N.Y., and died March 12, 2004, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. During that time he was a member of the Allied Forces, who reclaimed the Beaches of Normandy during the D-Day invasion.
Survivors include his wife, Joan of Thayer; two daughters -- Joan Vanginhoven and Marlene Dobell both of Mammoth Spring; a brother, Harrison Barry of Liberty, N.Y.; seven grandchildren -- Jeanette Beach, Teresa Watson, Richard Vanginhoven, Lynette Mills, Billie Jo Vanginhoven, Larry Dobell and Alissa Dobell; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Florence Barry; two sisters and four brothers.
The funeral was March 14 in Clary Chapel with Grover Pingleton officiating. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery at Mammoth Spring with arrangements by Clary Funeral Home.
