Crusade for Christ comes to Thayer

Thursday, March 18, 2004

THAYER -- First Baptist Church announced recently one of the first ever crusades to be held at the Thayer High School April 5 through April 8 at 7 p.m. nightly.

Dr. Bill Banks, pastor, said, "We're calling it an areawide crusade for Christ in an effort to make residents from all over the area feel welcome to attend." He said, "Our mission is to win lost people for Christ."

The area churches will be participating in this cause to share the love of Christ with everyone in the area.

The evangelist will be Bob Caldwell. He and his wife and four children reside in Jefferson City. He serves as the director of evangelism for the Missouri Baptist Convention.

He is a graduate of Southwest Baptist University in Boliver. Caldwell has been a full-time evangelist for over 15 years.

A press release from the church said Caldwell has had the opportunity to win many souls to Christ. His experiences through ministry in evangelism have taken him on mission trips to India and other parts of the world.

He said, "I'm excited about sharing Jesus with people right here in my home state."

Special music will be shared each night of the crusade. Participants are welcome to join the crusade choir, praise music and time of congressional singing.

A special drama team from First Baptist Church has been formed to share during the crusade. Any area resident who has special music they would like to share is asked to contact Adam Rouse, director of music at First Baptist Church.
