The Southwest Missouri State University Alumni Association will hold its annual spring barbecue at 6:30 p.m. May 6 in the West Plains Civic Center's Exhibit Hall.
This year's barbecue will celebrate the recent 40th anniversary of SMSU's West Plains campus, as well as the university's approaching centennial milestone.
The Alumni Association will provide food, entertainment and door prizes at the barbecue and the SMSU-West Plains Outstanding Alumni Award recipient will be recognized. Attendees will be able to get the latest university news, visit with special guests from SMSU and bid in a silent auction. Proceeds from the auction will benefit a new alumni and friends scholarship fund.
"Organizers anticipate a record response this year from people living throughout the region," said Julie Ebersold, director of alumni activities at SMSU. "The volunteer planning committee always does a great job of making the barbecue a fun evening, and the event provides a wonderful opportunity to share the accomplishments of the university."
The barbecue is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. Call Debbie Mosley at (417) 255-7240 by May 4 to reserve a seat.
