ALTON -- Alton Chamber of Commerce President Ron Campbell said as the chamber finishes its chamber year the organization can look back at the Alton community with pride and see the evidence of pride the citizens have in their heritage.
"It is the time of year when we encourage area business to join the Alton Chamber of Commerce in an effort to encourage cooperative community," Campbell said chamber dues are due. "They are $25 for a merchant and $15 for a non-business," he said.
The chamber meets in the conference room in the basement of the Oregon County Courthouse at Alton at 5:30 p.m. the second Monday of each month.
Campbell said the Walnut Festival will held this year Sept. 30-Oct. 2. He said the festival will be held at the Piney Creek Park.
On the square area there will be booths selling yard sale items and entertainment by the Gospel Grass. The park will include the carnival, family activities and craft booths. Tammy Curtis is chairman for the festival.
