HOWELL COUNTY -- A Thayer man is expected to be charged with second degree murder and armed criminal actions in the stabbing death of another Thayer man Dec. 5 north of the city.
At press time charges against a Thayer teen-ager were being amended, according to Howell County law enforcement officer Gary Lamb.
Brett Cotham, 18, Thayer was initially charged with felony assault and armed criminal action after a stabbing incident in the early morning hours of Dec. 5.
Officer Lamb said the stabbing took place on Highway 63 north of Thayer in the Caldwell Electric Parking lot across from West Plains Motor Speedway.
Lamb said Cotham stabbed Robert E. Kolsut, 23, also of Thayer, in the back of his right leg. Kolsut was transported by private vehicle to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains where he underwent surgery. He died at the hospital Saturday night.
Lamb said Howell County Prosecuting Attorney Mike Hutchings is expected to amend the charges to second degree murder and armed criminal action.
Cotham was released from custody in Howell County after posting a $100,000 bond.
