AREA -- The Ozark Heritage Region and Southwest Missouri State University at West Plains (SMSU-WP) will hold its annual Career Day March 30.
According to Mylee Smith, co-chairman of the event, Career Day is held annually to familiarize area high school juniors and seniors of the job opportunities that exist in Oregon, Howell, Shannon, Texas, Douglas, Ozark and Wright counties in southern Missouri. Smith said the students are made aware of regional employers and career opportunities. She said they can also learn about the skills and training necessary to work in the different career fields. Representatives from area universities and vocational technical schools will also be on hand to discuss their educational programs and provide assistance to students.
The event will be held at the West Plains Civic Center.
The Ozark Heritage Region and SMSU-WP both serve a seven-county region in south central Missouri.
Smith said the main goal of the Ozark Heritage Region is to promote economic development within the area. She said the goal of SMSU-WP is to provide quality educational opportunities to south central Missouri.
