Bessie Lorene Jones, daughter of the late John Henry Rogers and Etta Mae Banks Rogers, was born July 1, 1920, in Koshkonong, Mo., and died Feb. 3, 2004 in Springfield, Mo. She was married Aug. 5, 1940, in Koshkonong, Mo. to Loyd E. Jones.
She was a homemaker and a garment factory worker, working for over 30 years. She was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor, and loved nothing more than having her children all home each Sunday for those wonderful Sunday meals and visiting in the afternoon.
She was a Christian and attended the Assembly of God Church in Koshkonong.
Survivors include nine children -- Garrel Rogers and wife, Kathy of Koshkonong, Hazel Huizar of Redwood City, Calif., Beryl Jones of Koshkonong, Earlene Roberts and husband, Bill of Koshkonong, Mo., Nilene Ivey and husband, David of Mammoth Spring, Ark., Carolyn Meeker and husband, Bill of Koshkonong, Donald Jones and wife Donna of Koshkonong, Ronald Jones of Koshkonong, and Dolly Brashear and husband, Jerry, of Koshkonong. one sister, Lucille Hubble of West Plains, Mo.; one brother, Leon Rogers of Lawson, Mo.; sixteen grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John Wayne Jones; one daughter, Terry Marie Whisnat; one grandson, Richard Huizar and one sister, Pauline Anderson.
The funeral was Feb. 6 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Bill Bales officiating. Burial was in the Wayside Cemetery at Koshkonong, with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer, Mo.
Pallbearers were Garrel Rogers, Donnie Jones, Sam Carroll, Beryl Jones, Ronnie Jones and John Jones.
Honorary pallbearers were Dale Ivey, Kenny Jones, Gene Rogers, Aaron Rogers and Eric Rogers.
