Mineral specimens from around the world are part of the mineral and fossil exhibit in the Sharp County Library in Hardy. The display is on loan from the Spring River Gem & Mineral Club.
The museum quality specimens are the colors of the rainbow, including pink halite, lapis lazuli and malachite. Hand carved colorful exotic birds and tropical fish carved from natural stone are displayed. Hand cut and polished agate cabachons, some with dendrites, are displayed. Metallic minerals are also represented. The fossils include a mastodon tooth and jaw and colorful petrified wood.
The outstanding feature of this display is that the majority of the specimens are large, so one can better appreciate the beauty of the pieces. The display was arranged by John and Sonnie Seitz. It will be on display until April 20.
