VA to recognize women veterans

Thursday, April 8, 2004

The Poplar Bluff, Mo., VA and the Women Veteran Program Manager will hold a Women Veteran Recognition Day June 12. The goal is to invite women veterans from the local area and in southeast Missouri and northeast Arkansas. The events will include lunch, veteran networking and educational opportunities.

Financial and transportation assistance is necessary for this day to be successful. The estimated cost of the program is $1,500. This will include a catered meal and other activities. Invitations will be mailed to known veterans, but communication of the event by the different organizations will help include many more women veterans.

Donations will be graciously appreciated and should be sent to: Violet Ferrell, Volunteer Services/General Post Fund For The Women's Veteran Program, VAMC Poplar Bluff, 1500 N. Westwood Blvd., Poplar Bluff, MO 63901.

Women veterans who are interested in this program can contact a local veterans organization or the VAMC in Poplar Bluff.
