Man arrested after sale barn disturbance

Thursday, April 8, 2004

A Salem man was arrested after a law enforcement officer said he saw the man vandalize the law officer's in-law's truck.

"Yeah, it was pretty crazy watching that guy steal stuff off of my mother and father-in-law's truck," said 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force Investigator Brian Sanderson.

Jody Hall, 43, of Salem was arrested April 3 at the Salem sale barn and charged with public intoxication, theft of property and carrying a weapon.

Sanders said he observed Hall behaving erratically and causing trouble in the sale barn. He said he told a friend of Hall's to tell him to leave.

When Hall walked outside he removed a receiver hitch from Sanderson's in-law's truck and put it into the back of his truck. Sanderson said. The officer confronted Hall and he became belligerent and pulled a knife.

Sanderson said he pulled out his firearm and told Hall to get on the ground. He said he called for backup and Salem Police Officer Denny Bost responded.

After Bost arrived, the officers tried to handcuff Hall and he resisted, said Sanderson.

Hall was detained and transported to Fulton County jail were he was booked and released on $220 bond, Fulton County Deputy Carroll Traw said.

Hall's court date is set April 28.

Authorities also reported a break in at Leslie Pharmacy April 3. Entry was gained through a broken window. Authorities said medicine was taken and the investigation is on going.
