Alvie Cecil "A.C." McClaran, 74, of Wirth, Ark., died Aug. 4, 2007, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born Dec. 20, 1932, in Franklin, Tenn., son of Robert Mitchell McClaran and Lottie Mae (Sherrill) McClaran.
He was united in marriage to Holly Fiaschetti on April 9, 1956, in Vancouver, Wash. A.C. served in the United Sates Navy from 1952 until 1972. After retiring form the Navy he moved with his family to Arkansas. He was the founder and pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Wirth. He became active in Sharp County Republican Party after moving to Arkansas, and was currently serving as the chairman of the Sharp County Republican Party. He was also a Sharp County Committeeman and served as an election commissioner.
He is survived by: his wife, Holly of the home; three sons, Alvie C. McClaran II of Greenville, S.C., Daniel McClaran of Greenville, S.C., and David McClaran of Ravenden; five brothers, Ewin McClaran of Nashville, Tenn., Bill McClaran of Westland, Mich., Fred McClaran of Morrison, Tenn., Mart McClaran of Franklin, Tenn., and Joe McClaran of Crossville, Tenn.; three sisters, Imogene Billingston of Salt Lake City, Utah, Maxine Keyon of Muskogee, Okla., and Sally Syes of Franklin, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by:?his parents; one brother, Quentin McClaran; and one sister, Bobbie Atkins.
Funeral services were held Aug. 7 at the Tri-County Funeral Home in Highland with Alvie C. McClaran II?officiating. Burial followed in the Greenville S.C., with Military honors. Grandchildren served as pallbearers.
