Pryor named park assistant superintendent

Mammoth Spring State Park Superintendent Dave Jackson has announced the park has a new assistant superintendent, Glenda Pryor.

Pryor came to the park in December. She is originally from Oklahoma and is a graduate of Oklahoma State University. She now resides at the park.

Before coming to Mammoth Spring State Park, Pryor worked for just over eight years as a naturalist at Lake Catherine State Park just outside Hot Springs. Before that she was a naturalist at DeGray State Park for seven years and also worked at Petit Jean State Park in the same capacity.

She said although Mammoth Spring is a much smaller park than where she is used to working, she is excited about the transfer. "Mammoth Spring State Park has two dominate features, the spring, of course, and the Depot Museum," the new assistant superintendent said.

She said all the ongoing programs that exist at the park will remain in place but she is looking to expand programs. "I intend to start several new programs when the weather permits, including bird walks, wild flower walks, some snake programs, insect and butterfly programs, and we are planning programs pertaining to nature and history for the local people in the summer," Pryor said.

She said education will be one of her main focuses, involving elementary school age students.

"I love this park and the people in this area. I'm settling in and am enjoying it so far. I am looking forward to meeting many new people," she said.
