Couch kids go to Washington

COUCH SCHOOL -- Five members of the Couch FFA Chapter attended the Washington Leadership Conference in the nation's capital June 11-16.Attending the conference were Kim Bray, Sara Hubbell, Tasha Combs, Rachel Burgard and Amanda Weist.According to Couch FFA Advisor Pam Proffitt who accompanied the students on the trip, the girls participated in the week long program that is designed to help FFA members improve their leadership skills. She said they attended sessions on persuasive communication, character leadership and building relationships and participated in discussions on citizenship. The Couch students also increased their understanding of the nation's heritage with visits to the Capitol, Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon, Ford's Theater, the Holocaust Museum, the Smithsonian Museums, and a night tour of D.C. including the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial, and the Jefferson and Roosevelt memorials, as well as several other historic sights. They also visited with Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson.The trip to the conference was sponsored in part by the Couch FFA alumni, Couch FFA and Couch School.
