City Hall entrance to be remodeled

Tuesday, November 23, 2004

Staff Writer

THAYER -- The Thayer City Council voted Nov. 16 to remodel the entrance to Thayer City Hall. The work will include different floor covering and different lighting. The work on the remodeling project will begin after Christmas.

All work done on City Hall will be done by city employees. Mayor Allen Deckard said winter is the slow work season for city crews and the park and cemetery crews will be available to help.

August Herbold was at the meeting and asked the aldermen if parking on Chestnut Street between 4th and 5th streets could be changed so those attending Thayer First Baptist Church would have more parking. The aldermen voted to angle the parking near the church.

The aldermen voted to purchase work overalls for city employees. The city has bought the overalls in the past but has not purchased the overalls for several years.
