Cecile Childers, 82, of Thayer, Mo., was born May 5, 1922, in Alton, and passed away Nov. 11, 2004, at her home.
She helped her husband, Raymond on the family farm and also ran a general store in Koshkonong for 26 years. She was a Christian and was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include: three daughters -- Betty Rae Boles and husband, Frank of Enterprise, Ala., Shirley Day and husband, Sonny of West Plains, Mo., Ophelia Ann McCullough and husband, Steve, of Thayer; three grandchildren -- Angela Gargus and husband, Darren of West Plains, Simone Long and husband, David, of Ashburn, Va., Stephenie McCullough of Thayer; two great-grandsons -- Benjamin and Joshua Long of Ashburn, Va.; four sisters -- Ruby Grooms of Thayer, Lucille Vanwinkle of Mexico, Mo., Frances Owens of Alton, Dorothy Hensley of Columbus, Mont.; one brother, O.F. Holmes of Kilgore, Texas; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Frank and Maude French-Holmes; her husband of 61 years, Raymond Childers; one brother, Sherman Holmes; and two sisters -- Helen Sisco and Leona Lambe.
Services were held Nov. 14 in the Clary Chapel with Bro. Daryl Johnston and Bro Wayne Adrian officiating. Interment was in the Thayer Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Mammoth Spring.
