Clifford Halcomb, 79, son of the late Dolphus C. Halcomb and Lora Mae Montgomery Halcomb was born June 26, 1923, in Thayer, and died Oct. 17, 2002, in Denton, Texas. He was married Nov. 9, 1957, in Savannah, Mo. to Louise Rogers. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served three years in the European Theater during World War II. He received numerous awards and medals while serving his country. He was employed by Ray Noble Store in Thayer and owned and operated an upholstery business for many years. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors are his wife, Louise of the home in Paradise, Texas; two sons, Ron Kircher and wife, Rose Mary of San Antonio and John Halcomb and wife, Veronica of Paradise, Texas; one daughter, Lora Halcomb Wilson and husband, Mark of Saint Louis; one granddaughter, Jennie Marie Halcomb of Paradise; two brothers, Dolphus Halcomb of Springfield, and Arles Wells of Allen, Okla.; one sister, Bernice Mitchell of Pacifica, Calif., lots of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Noel and Earl Wells; and two sisters, Thelma Wells and Elsie Mae Halcomb.
Services were Oct. 21, at Carter Funeral Home in Thayer with Erman Croney officiating. Burial was in the Shiloh Grand Gulf Cemetery with arrangements by Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer. Military rites were by the Veterans Honor Guard of West Plains, Mo.
Pallbearers were Mike Ward, Mark Wilson, John Halcomb, Keith Rogers, Ron Kircher and Ray Pingleton.
