Ozarka slates England, Scotland trip

Thursday, October 24, 2002

Ozarka College, in association with EF Educational Tours, is making reservations for a trip to England and Scotland during the summer of 2003. The trip is entitled the "Shakespeare, Dickens and Scott Tour."

Samantha Thornsberry, English instructor at Ozarka, is organizing the tour that will depart from the Little Rock Airport May 29 and return June 7.

The tour will encompass many of England and Scotland's historic sites, including Europe's largest city, London; the Warwick Castle in the Stratford region; Edinburgh, Scotland, home of Sir Walter Scott; and York Minster, the largest Gothic cathedral, located in Yorkshire. There is also an optional two-day extension of the trip that includes an excursion to North Wales.

Thornsberry, who went on a trip over the past summer to Madrid, Spain, sponsored by EF Educational Tours expressed what a wonderful learning experience the trips are for students or anyone else who wants to learn more about the world.

"'The Shakespeare, Dickens and Scott' trip will be enjoyable for anyone who is interested in literature, but it is an opportunity for anyone who wants to discover more about another part of our world first-hand." She added, "This tour company does a fantastic job organizing the trips. It is a chance to see many different things without having to worry about arranging where to stay, sightseeing excursions and transportation."

There are 10 people registered for the tour at this time and registration is still open. Costs range from $1,713 to $1,978 per person. The price includes round-trip airfare, and other transportation, hotel, daily continental breakfast and dinner, four sightseeing tours led by licensed local guides, nine visits to special attractions, and a theater performance in the West End in London. Details of the trip may be viewed on the Internet at www.eftours.com, trip number 128959. For more information call Thornsberry at 870-368-7371 or e-mail her at sthornsberry@ozarka.edu.
