THAYER -- Downtown Thayer Inc. is made up of concerned businesses and individuals who are working toward the revitalization of downtown Thayer.
One downtown spokesperson said the group is to preserve and improve Thayer's historic downtown as the "heartbeat of the community: through concentrated efforts in organization, design, beautification, promotion and economic restructuring."
It has completed a number of projects including making downtown ADA accessible, writing of downtown development strategy, and SDBG Grant of $271,950 to reconstruct downtown sidewalks, storm sewer drainage, lighting and landscaping. Craig Schuster, along with Wyndy and Jerry Donahue, Lloyd Best and other concerned citizens tilled, planted and mulched the planters along Chestnut, Second and Front streets.
The group said a hearty and sincere thank you to the following businesses and individuals who have contributed to the planter project.
They include Dan and Maureen Cover, H&R Block, Best Shoes, Bank of Thayer, Craig Schuster, Rosie's Cafe, Gerald Ary, Thayer Chamber of Commerce, Butch Steed, Harvey Allen Law Office, Thayer Fun and Friends, Thayer Mammoth Spring Rotary Club, Cozort Realty, Fern Hickinbotham, Warm Fork Woodlands, Thayer Garden Club, Bill T. Hass and Goldie Norton.
"Our vision of downtown Thayer is a historic railroad town with a successful business and retail mix offering diverse products, services and events that makes visiting an enjoyable experience for employees, residents and tourists of all ages." the spokesperson said.
Downtown Thayer Inc. is a volunteer based committee that meets the first Monday of every month at 5 p.m. at the Fun and Friends Senior Center in downtown Thayer. They welcome all interested individuals to their meetings.
