Leroy Arthur Swan, 79, of Cherokee Village, died Feb. 10, 2003, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home. Born Nov. 24, 1923, in Aberdeen, S.D., he worked as a railroad engineer for Burlington-Northern Railroad before retiring.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II. He moved to Cherokee Village eight years ago from Aurora, Ill. He was a lifetime member of the VFW., and was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Swan of Cherokee Village; a son and his wife, Mark and Cindy Swan of Aurora, Ill.; two step-sons and their wives -- Butch and Dianne Stevens of Charlotte, N.C., and Tim and Barb Stevens of Aurora, Ill.; a step-daughter and her husband, Jenyne and Randy Sneed of Williford; six grandchildren -- Jeremy Rowland, Chad Woolard, Becky Swan, Mary Ann Swan, Zachary Stevens and Zoe Stevens; and three great-grandchildren -- Jeremy Ty, Tristen Ryan, and Cheyenne Renee.
No service is scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
In lieu of flowers the, family requests memorials be made to the VFW.
