Sarah Emyla Augusta McGlothlin Matthews, 95, of Viola, daughter of the late George Roberts and Laura Francis Young Roberts was born Aug. 21, 1907, in Elizabeth, Ark. She died Feb. 7, 2003, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem.
She was united in marriage to William McGlothlin on Dec. 31, 1929, at Swifton, Ark. To this union five children were born. He preceded her in death in 1950, and she married Troy Matthews in 1975, at Viola, Ark. She was a mother and a homemaker and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Salem.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law --William Stanley and Berniece McGlothlin of Bolivar, Mo., and James and Sandy McGlothlin of Viola; her daughters and sons-in-law -- Naomi and Virgil Paden of Mountain Home, and Georgia and Jerry McGowan of Ravenden Springs; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by both husbands; an infant daughter, Reba Mae McGlothlin; three brothers -- Limmick, Hansford and Eldridge Roberts; four sisters -- Rosie Roberts, Jewell McCue, Trudy Hodges and Clessie Dixon; and her father and mother.
Services were Feb. 10 at Cox-Blevins Chapel with Anthony Traylor officiating. Burial was in the Viola Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home.
