J.W. James, 83, of Cave City died Feb. 12, 2003, at the Veterans Hospital in Little Rock. Born April 22, 1919, at Mobley, he was the son of John Washington and Sarah Lee Rawlings James. He retired from the International Shoe Company in Batesville, was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, a member of the VFW and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors are his wife, Willene Dickey James of the home; a son and daughter-in-law -- Ronald and Linda James of Batesville; a daughter and son-in-law -- Teresa and Bill Milligam of Batesville; a daughter and her fiance -- Tina James and William Woodward, both of Batesville; two brothers -- Justin James of Clarksville, and Earl James of Cave City; six grandchildren and their spouses -- Jonathan and Teresa James of Mountain View, Cindy and Martin Miller of Lake Charles, La., Chad and Karen Milligan of Jonesboro, Angie Gunner of North Little Rock, Kelley Roberson of Lavon, Texas, and David Keene of Wojack, Mich.; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers -- Wesley James, Odell James and Neal James.
Services weres Feb. 15 at First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City with Robbie Horne, L.J. Gay, and Wayne Goodman officiating. Burial was in Mount View Cametery, east of Cave City. Arrangements were by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Lonnie Dickey, Joey Carpenter, Danny Murphy, Tom Penn, Kenneth James, Russell Fowler, Norman Girtman and Bobby James. Honorary pallbearers were Murphy Willmuth, Mike Willmuth, Aaron James, Bob Anderson, Dennis Smith, Jim Smith, Bill Weaver, Gerald Tuggle, Kelvin Fields, Floyd Milligan and Billy James.
