Bearkatz claw way to 2002 2AA-North district golf title

Coopers Hawk Golf Course in Melbourne was host to this year's 2AA-North District Golf Match on April 11.In action from the boy's side, the Melbourne Bearkatz won the championship for the seventh consecutive year.The Bearkatz outdistanced the second place team from Rural Special by 21 strokes.The ICC Cougars finished the match in third place.Melbourne's Jordan Davidson was the district medalist for the second straight year.Davidson eagled the par 5 number two with a 75-foot putt from the opposite side of the green.Davidson finished with a plus 4-76 on the day.Bearkatz Cody Moser shot a 78 and eagled the par 5 number two as well.Levi Taylor shot an 80, and Hunter Caraway 81 for Melbourne.Joe Hawkins paced the ICC team with an 84.Jessie Dockins shot a 91, and Josh Jackson 94 for the Cougars.In girls' action, the ICC Lady Cougars won the team title, with the Salem Lady Greyhounds taking second place.Laura Gaskins led ICC with a 59.Audra Yancey shot 62, and Danielle Chapman 67 for the Lady Cougars.The Lady Greyhounds were paced by Crystal Hodges with 61, Ashley Smith with 64, and Sara Wilder with 78.Individual medalist honors went to Morgan Haney of Mammoth Spring with a 53.
