William T. "Willie" Manry

William T. "Willie" Manry, 91, of Agnos, son of Perry and Nicie Riley Manry, was born Sept. 26, 1913, in Battleaxe in Jackson County, Ark. He died Jan. 13, 2005, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem.

He married Mamie Ardell Godwin Sept. 17, 1933, in Agnos. To this union six children were born.

He was employed by Highland Schools as a mechanic and bus driver for many years until his retirement in the 1980's. He was also a farmer and a member of Agnos Church of Christ where he served as an Elder for many years. He was on the board of directors of the Agnos Cemetery Association and caretaker at Manry Cemetery.

Survivors include his children - Fern (Kelmer) Johnson of Paragould, Mildred (Ben) Karpowicz of Horseshoe Bend, Billie Sue (Jim) Horton of Agnos, Carrol (Linda) Manry of Mt. Pleasant, Connie (Dale) Godwin of Agnos, and Karla (Brett) Carroll of Flippin; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a grandson, Bobby Mack Tharp; a granddaughter, Lisa Gail Horton; three brothers - Richard, Coy and Troy Manry; six half-brothers and sisters; and his parents.

The funeral was Jan. 15 at Agnos Church of Christ with burial in Manry Cemetery under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem. Contributions may be made to the Manry Cemetery.
