OREGON COUNTY -- Oregon County Associate Judge Jo Beth Prewitt sent three Oregon County men and a St. Joseph, Mo., resident to state prison Jan. 5.
All four appeared in court Jan. 5. Jeffrey Haigwood, 20, and Jacob Burmingham, 19, both of Alton, had their probation revoked by Judge Prewitt. She sent Haigwood to prison for three years on a probation violation for a 2002 check forgery conviction.
Burmingham had been on probation after pleading guilty to burglary and stealing in 2003. He was charged with the break-in Aug. 3 at Thayer First Baptist Church where a check worth $694 was stolen. He was sentenced to four years in state prison.
A Koshkonong man, David Teague, 20, had his probation revoked by Judge Prewitt and was sentenced to five years in prison. He was originally charged with stealing a 1981 GMC truck from Barbara Cox of Thayer.
Judge Prewitt sentenced William G. Lyle, 26, of St. Roberts, Mo., to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to felony stealing in connection with the burglary of the Perkins Law Office in Thayer in October.
