OREGON COUNTY -- Ozark Action, Inc. is currently seeking a board member to represent the Oregon County private sector.
Ozark Action, Inc. (OAI) is a community action agency that assists individuals and families toward increased economic self sufficiency. Besides Oregon County, OAI serves Howell, Ozark, Douglas, Wright and Texas Counties in southern Missouri.
The agency provides emergency services, affordable housing programs, weatherization assistance, Head Start, workforce development programs. According to an OAI official, their aim is to help strengthen community infrastructure through collaboration efforts that combine and conserve resources and develop new programs.
The OAI governing board is composed of equal representation from members who represent the low income who are served by the agency's programs. Chet Sisco from Alton currently serves as the Oregon County low income board member. There is also a private sector board member who can help mobilize support for programs that benefit those needing assistance toward the goal of self sufficiency. Most recently Mildred Cornelius from Thayer served as the Oregon County private sector board member.
Buddy Wright serves as the elected official that represents the public sector of Oregon County on the Ozark Action Board of Directors. OAI officials said this position has the ability to influence program funding.

Feb. 10 is the deadline for submitting a nomination request to the OAI board.
