Arthur Willard Baker, 86, son of the late William Baker and Laura Taylor Baker was born June 4, 1916, in Williford, Ark., and died Jan. 11, 2003, in West Plains, Mo.
He was married Jan. 2, 1946, in Williford to Mabel Koenig. He was a retiree of Armco Steel, working in Kansas City, Mo. for many years.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during World War II. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel of the home in Mammoth Spring, Ark.; one daughter, Sharon Shelton and husband, Fred of Independence, Mo.; four nieces and five nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry Baker; four brothers -- John, Edward, Homer and Bernard Baker; and one sister, Edith Fountain.
Services were Jan. 14 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Rev. Floyd Rikard officiating. Burial was in the Baker Cemetery at Hardy, with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer.
Pallbearers were Phil Howell, Bill Baker, Pete Rose, Jim Baker, Theo Case, Bob Baker and Bob Farrar.
