Charlotte Marie Childers, 87, daughter of the late Obe Arnold and Lucy Lionberger Arnold was born May 21, 1915, in Farewell, Mo. and died Jan. 25, 2003, in Thayer. She was married on Sept. 17, 1932, in Corning, Ark. to Chester Stafford who preceded her in death Jan. 4, 1954. She was married June 17, 1958, in Hernando, Miss. to Roy Childers who preceded her in death Jan. 15, 1969.

She was a talented seamstress, a homemaker and owned and operated Charlotte's Ready to Wear in Mammoth Spring, Ark. She was a member of the Thayer Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son, Connie Stafford and wife, Nina of West Plains; one daughter, Mary Lou Howell and husband, Paul of Thayer; one step-daughter, Sue Mashburn and husband, Ray of Alliance, Neb.; one sister, Bernice Alexander of Newport, Ark.; six grandchildren -- Stacy McLaughlin of Endwell, N.Y., Stephanee Pena of Redlands, Calif. Marjorie Howell of Thayer, Clayton Howell of Thayer, Dawn Howell of Livingston, Mont., and Sarah Howell of St. Louis, Mo.; five step-grandchildren -- Melissa Nolan of Cody, Wyo., Melinda Fifield and Matthew Mashburn of Alliance, Neb., and Kaya Day and Kim Park of Springfield, Mo.; seven great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one step-son, Joe Childers; three brothers -- Omer, Walter and Sterling Arnold; three sisters -- Aldona Wilder, Stella Masterson and Jean Olbricht; three infant sisters; one step-grandson, Kit Park; and one step-great-grandchild.

Services were Jan. 29 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Erman Croney officiating. Burial was in the Corning Cemetery at Corning, Ark. with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer.

Pallbearers were John Arnold, Ted Olbricht, Clayton Howell, David Olbricht, Paul Sloan and Frank Utley.

Honorary pallbearers were Bill Hass, J. W. Agee, Clifford Stacy and Fred Arnold.
