Esther L. McLain, 94, of Lead Hill died Jan. 22, 2003, at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison. The daughter of John H. and Margaret J. Combs Haynes was born Nov. 6, 1908 in Sturkie. She was a member of the Church of Christ for 70 years. She was a homemaker and an avid quilter. She married Pete McLain on Aug. 28, 1924, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 1984.
Survivors include her sons -- Walton McLain of Berryville and Wade McLain of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada; daughters -- Wilma Richey and husband, Jim, of Lead Hill, Willene McCullough of Ozark Mo., and Margaret Gray and husband, Don, of Forsyth, Mo.; 21 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Wanda Heasley; six brothers and five sisters.
Services were Jan. 25 at Lead Hill Church of Christ with Bill Arnold officiating. Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery at Lead Hill.
Pallbearers included David Alan Holt, Malcolm McLain, Travis Hedge, Dave Pearson, Jimmy Richey and Rick Hudson.
