Elmer Keefe, age 90, of Newport, Ark., and a former resident of Cherokee Village, died Jan. 2, 2003, in Newport. He was a resident of Regional Healthcare Nursing Home in Newport.
He was born in Chicago. Ill., and was an employee of Electro-Motor Division in Countryside, Ill. for 36 years, until retiring in 1974.
He then moved to Cherokee Village. While he lived in Cherokee Village he was a member of the Hill and Dale Garden Club, and Peace Lutheran Church of Cherokee Village.
Survivors include one son, Kevin Keefe and Kevin's wife, Melissa of Newport; and one grandson, Jacob Daniel Keefe also of Newport.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Burandt Keefe and his parents, William and Adeline Lubitz Keefe.
Graveside services were held at Cherokee Village United Methodist Church Columbar-ium Jan. 9 with Rev. Brian Pummill officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Make a Wish Foundation or any children's hospital.
