OREGON COUNTY -- The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission has awarded a resurfacing contract in three southern Missouri counties, including Oregon.
The work in the county will involve Route 160 from Route 99 to Route 19.
The contract was awarded to Journagan Construction of Springfield.
The contractor began work Jan. 6. According to District Engineer Tom Stehn, the project will consist of correcting irregularities in the pavement and providing a uniform driving surface over the entire roadway.
"Enhancing these pavements will provide motorists with a safer, more comfortable road," Stehn.
He said motorists are urged to exercise caution and observe all temporary traffic signs in this area during construction.
In other MoDOT work in Oregon County Alton and Thayer maintenance crews will be edge rutting on Route 160 between Alton and Thayer. Signs will be set and flaggers will be directing traffic.
The crews will also be doing drainage work on various routes in the county.
Motorists are urged to drive with caution and to watch for workers and equipment in the roadway and in all areas where work is being done.
