THAYER -- A Thayer woman received moderate injuries in an accident just north of Thayer May 1 and was taken by ambulance to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains.
According to officials with Troop G of the Missouri Highway Patrol, the accident occurred five miles north of Thayer on Highway 63 and involved four vehicles.
The highway patrol report said Meridith Brewer, 49, of Thayer, driving a 1990 Mazda, was attempting to make a left turn when Joseph Johansen, 60, of Jonesboro, Ark., driving a 2000 Kenworth tractor-trailer, swerved to miss hitting the Brewer vehicle.
The tractor-trailer struck the Brewer vehicle and a 1991 GMC driven by James Smith, 61, of Mammoth Spring. The Brewer vehicle then struck a 2001 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by Gary Tracy, 65, of Milan, Kan., head on. The Brewer vehicle then ran off the road and overturned.
Both Brewer and Johansen were issued summons for careless and imprudent driving.
Officer M.D. Hargus, of Troop G investigated the accident and reported that all drivers involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts.
