FLIPPIN -- Over 25 racing machines will line the streets of Flippin March 8 in celebration of the Flippin Merchants Association 3rd annual Race Day event. Late Models, sprint cars, IMCA Modifieds, super stock, hobby stock, cruisers, mini-stocks, go-carts and dragsters will be on display until mid-afternoon in and around the downtown Flippin area for race fans to inspect and admire.
Race Day coincides with the Coca-Cola Classic make-up race being held over the weekend at the North Central Arkansas Speedway. In addition to viewing the race cars, visitors to the area will find food vendors, craft booths, sidewalk sales and special values from many of the Flippin merchants. Prizes will be offered to the prettiest car in each NCAS racing class in addition to a drawing for a season pit pass to one of the lucky drivers displaying his or her race car at Race Day. The Flippin Merchants are adding $100 to the NCAS feature winner's purse in each class Saturday night if the driver shows the winning car at Race Day.
Race Day was originally started to recognize the local drivers and the many auto racing fans in the Flippin area. The event has grown to an area-wide event drawing cars and fans from well outside the local area and has become a major Marion County attraction.
