It appears that the Mammoth Spring Lady Bears were unwilling to let anything keep them from bagging the 2A-East District Tournament title.

After a turbulent week that saw the finals of the tourney moved from the campus of Biggers-Reyno High School to Williford, the Lady Bears delivered by dismantling the second-seeded Hillcrest Screamin' Lady Eagles 73-52 for the district tournament title Feb. 19.

With the victory, Mammoth Spring (28-4), ranked number eight in Class AA, put the finishing touches on an undefeated romp through the 2A-East this season.

The Lady Bears also nailed down the district's top spot in the Class A Region 3 Tournament in Swifton this week.

The Bears, although they too will play in the regional tourney at Swifton, came up a bit short of top-seeded Hillcrest in the district finals, losing 71-68 to the Screamin' Eagles in overtime.

The top-seeded Lady Bears took care of Williford 63-28 in the semifinals Feb. 15.

Madison Busch paced Mammoth Spring with 18, while Jodie Walsh logged 12.

Cassie Howard tossed in a team-high 12 points for the Lady Indians.

The Bears, seeded third on the boys' side of things, blew away the homestanding Biggers-Reyno Buffaloes, the tourney's number two seeds, 73-57 in semifinal action Feb. 15.

Leading 32-27 at the half, Mammoth Spring upped its lead in the second half, putting the Buffaloes out to pasture.

Trent White paced the Bears with 23, while Derick Felton added 13.

Routing sixth-seeded Williford 65-26 to open the district tournament Feb. 14, the Bears were hardly challenged.

Felton's team-high 11 points paced Mammoth Spring against Williford, while White and Logan Lawrence tallied nine points each. Dustin Madden and Addison Guy hit for eight points apiece, and Jesse Gaines logged seven. Cameron Kent had five, Zach Sims four, and Segan Underwood three. Jamie Bragg and Brent Cherry posted one point each.
