Blaine Franklin Rogers of Corning, died Tues-day, Jan. 29, 2002 at the VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He was born May 4, 1939 in Supply, Ark., the son of George Washington Marvel Rogers and Pearl Marie (Fenton) Carmickle. He was married June 11, 1985 to Shirley Ruth (Newingham). He was self-employed as a barber, before his retirement. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army; and was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Corning. He had a cabin in this area and spent time here.Survivors include his wife, Shirley Rogers of the home in Corning; three sons, Wesley Rogers of Miami, Okla., Darrel Rogers of Newport, and Jarred Rogers of Naylor, Mo.; five daughters, Karen Leonard of Doniphan, Mo., Paula Garrett of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Lawana Lane of Corning, Makesha Vollmer of Bollingbrook, Ill., and Equawn Lane of Benton; one step-son, Dale Putman of Pocahontas; five step-daughters, Theresa Rowe, Juanita Halcomb, Marietta Rapert, Rhonda Dunn, and Carla Rapert all of Corning; one brother, Clarence Rogers of Manistique, Mich.; four sisters, Grace Hoelscher of Fulton, Mo., Myrtle Carmickle of Maynard, Stella Foote of Sebastian, Fla., and Ola Wallace of Hornbeak, Tenn.; 26 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Harold Rogers, Logan Rogers, Ellen Stephens, Wiley Rogers, Billy Rogers, Jack Rogers, Robert Rogers and his step-father, Dan Carmickle.Services were Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel in Corning with Rev. Cleveland Keller officiating. Burial was in the Williams Cemetery in Corning with arrangements under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home, Inc. of Corning, Ark.
