Christy Hoyt joins U.S. Army

Christy M. Hoyt has joined the U.S. Army under the Delayed Entry Program. The program gives young men and women the opportunity to delay entering active duty for up to one year.The enlistment gives the new soldier the option to learn a new skill, travel and become eligible to receive as much as $50,000 toward a college education. After completion of basic military training, soldiers receive advanced individual training in their career job specialty.

The recruit qualifies for a $20,000 enlistment bonus.Hoyt is a 1996 graduate of Couch High School in Myrtle, Mo., and is a 1999 graduate of Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield.

She will report to Fort Leonard Wood in Waynesville, Mo., for basic training.

Her parents are Cheri L. Quackenbush of Republic, Mo., and Joe L. Hoyt of Thayer. Her husband, Patrick, is the son of John T. and Dottie L. Creedon of Branson, Mo.
