Fulton County Judge Curren Everett points to where a low water crossing should be at the cutoff between Young Road and Whipporwill Road east of Salem after heavy rainfall Nov. 17. Everett said the ground was already soaked after an inch of rain over the weekend. He said four to six inches of rainfall was reported around Glencoe, Salem and Sturkie. Road crews were busy surveying the area, but roads and low water bridges are washed out throughout the county. Everett said the water was too high to estimate the damage. Falling leaves presented a problem because they filled the culverts and caused water to back up. Crews will be busy hauling hill gravel and the next few weeks the road department will do patchwork on the roads. "The damage will be county-wide," he said. Photo/Ariola.
