Couch sets school board filing dates

COUCH -- Couch School Board members were updated on the A+ Program at the school by A+ Coordinator Sharon Mathis at the Nov. 11 school board meeting. School board members voted to set the school board election filing dates for Dec. 16 through Jan. 20, 2004.

The board voted to adopt a policy to set health and life insurance start dates for new employees following the first day of the month a new employee reports for work. They voted to continue membership in the Missouri School Board Association (MSBA) and approved the MSBA policy updates. School board members also approved an evaluation report of the facilities and safety program.

At the meeting the building principals presented a monthly attendance report and discussed upcoming extra-curricular activities. Couch elementary principal Russell Deckard informed school board members that the annual Fall Festival at the school was a huge success. He also informed them that he and several teachers plan to attend a Reading First Grant Workshop. Superintendent Rolla Fraley reported on problems encountered in attempts made to make corrections on the annual performance report. He also informed board members of an upcoming School Funding Summit set for Nov. 25 at Republic High School. All members are invited to attend.

Names added to the school substitute teacher list include: Randy Simmons, Kenneth Hall, Rosemary Nickell. Edward Hackworth and Heather Brewer.
