Carl William "Monty" Goetting Jr., son of the late Carl W. Goetting and Lexie Peck Goetting, was born April 16, 1932, in Mammoth Spring, Ark., and died Nov. 14, 2003, in Mammoth Spring, Ark., at the age of 71 years.

He was united in marriage to June 8, 1957, in Mammoth Spring to Hasseltine Lewis.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as a medic in a M.A.S.H. unit in Korea.

He was a registered pharmacist, licensed in Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. He was past president of the Mammoth Spring Lions Club was a member of the Church of Christ since 1957.

Survivors include his wife, Hasseltine of the home in Mammoth Spring; three daughters -- Sharon Miller of Mountain Home, Ark., Joyce Dills and husband, Rick, of Thayer, Mo., and Linda Vincent and husband, Jeff, of Nixa, Mo.; seven grandchildren -- Richard Dills Jr., Rachel Sims and husband, Bryan, Zac and Jo Ellen Miller and Whitney, Trevor and Isaac Vincent; a brother, Leon Goetting, and wife, Roberta, of Rocky Point, Mo.; two sisters -- Anna Jean Loftis and husband, Don, of Bentonville, Ark. and Betty Sue Carrow and husband, Jack, of Harrison, Ark.; an aunt, Velva Buchanan of Mammoth Spring; and his step-father-in-law, Erwin Cowen of Mammoth Spring.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral service was Nov. 16, 2003 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Mo., with Ted Clarke officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery a Mammoth Spring with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc., of Thayer, Mo.

Pallbearers were Don Whiteside, Bob Simers, Bill Wooldridge, Ken Farrell, Edd Washam and Jack Simers.

Honorary pallbearers included Tommy Dills, Harold Jackson, Bob Johnson, Tommy Risner, Bill Burns and Sonny Brown.
