The 14th annual cystic fibrosis country music concert will be held at the West Plains Civic Center March 23. An auction will begin at 6:45 p.m. followed by a brief opening act. Confederate Railroad takes the stage at 7:45 p.m. Confederate Railroad first gained recognition on radio stations in 1992 with the smash hit "She Took It Like a Man." Subsequent hits followed, such as "Queen of Memphis," "Trashy Women," "When You Leave That Way" and "Jesus and Mama." Other hits include "Elvis and Andy," "Daddy Never Was the Cadillac Kind" and "When and Where."In an era when bands and acts come and go at a rapid pace, this group still performs around 150 shows per year, a testament to Confederate Railroad's tried and true appeal. They have sold millions of albums, won prestigious awards and yet stay true to their down home values and southern roots.
