Thursday, August 28, 2003

MAMMOTH SPRING -- Those in attendance at this

year's 110th Old Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Air

Force Reunion received special greetings.

According to Mammoth Spring VFW Post 7831

Commander Gene Rice, his post and ladies' auxiliary

were honored to re-ceive the fo-llowing message from

the president of the United States:

"I am sending greetings to all those gathered in

Mammoth Spring, Ark., for the 110th Old Soldiers,

Sailors, Marines and Air Force Reunion hosted by the

Veterans of Foreign Wars Langston-Vincent-Lunn Post

7831.

"As the United States engages in a global war against

terrorism, we look to our veterans as examples of

courage, dedication and sacrifice. The soldiers, sailors,

airman, marines and coast guardsmen have fought for

America and helped secure our nation, liberate people

around the world from threats of tyranny and terror, and

advance the cause of freedom worldwide. Through-out

history, these brave men and women have answered

the call of duty and risked their lives to protect their

fellow citizens. These patriots continue to inspire new

generations. I join all Americans in expressing our

gratitude for your abiding patriotism and selfless

service in defense of our nation. Laura joins me in

sending our best wishes for a memorable event."

Mammoth Spring VFW and auxiliary members said they

were pleased with the president's greeting.
