Road work to start on Hwy. 63

Thursday, April 22, 2004

LITTLE ROCK -- The Arkansas State Highway Commission has opened bids for improvements to a roadway in Fulton County, according to Commissioner Carl Rosenbaum of Little Rock.

The purpose of the project is to resurface approximately 13 miles of Highway 63. The work will extend from the Sharp county line, just north of Hardy, northward to the Missouri state line. Atlas Asphalt, Inc. of Jonesboro, Ark., was the apparent low bidder on this project at $1,221,948.29.

"Resurfacing on Highway 63 in Fulton County will ensure the best roadway possible for motorists crossing the state line at Mammoth Spring," Rosenbaum added.

Rosenbaum said construction could begin on the project in six to eight weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected by the end of summer 2004.
