Zelma Faye Brooks Gilson, of Melbourne, daughter of the late Thomas Washington Brooks and Eva Morse Brooks, was born Sept. 5, 1931, in Gid, Ark. She died Dec. 28, 2003, in Mountain Home at the age of 72 years. She married Bob Gilson. During her working years she worked at Baxter Lab and was a housewife and mother.
Survivors include two daughters -- Bobbi Willis and Carol Bishop both of Melbourne, Ark.; a son, Billy Fitzsimmons of Melbourne; four grandchildren -- Justin Bishop, Jennifer Brenman, Mandy Fitzsimmons and Adam Fitzsimmons, all of Melbourne; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Bud Brooks; and one sister, Velma Banning.
A graveside service was Dec. 30 at the Reeves Cemetery near Union, Ark., with Seth Sooner officiating. Burial was at Reeves Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home of Melbourne, Ark.
Pallbearers were Eddie Howard, David Morris, Jim Haley, Eudell Smith, John Teague and Lloyd Johnson.
