Christene Ramsey Melton, 65, of Brockwell, Ark., daughter of the late Charles R. Ramsey and Iba Johnston Ramsey, was born May 16, 1938, in Franklin, Ark. She died Dec. 31, 2003, at her home in Brockwell. She married Gale Wayne Melton April 7, 1978, in Franklin. She worked at McDonnell Douglas for 29-1/2 years until retirement. She attended Franklin Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Gale Melton of the home; three sons and three daughters-in-law -- Ted and Leeann Blevins of Viola, and Chris and Melissa Melton and Charles and Lee Melton all of Melbourne; two step-sons and a daughter-in-law -- Dan and Kelley Melton of Elwood, Ind., and Rick Melton of Yakima, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Melton of Yakima; a sister, Mona Simmons of Franklin; two brothers -- Bob Blue of Olathe, Kan., and Charlie Ramsey of Shawnee, Kan.; and 15 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Tommie Blue Sipe and an infant brother, James Harold Blue.
The funeral was Jan. 4 at Roman and Billy Howard Chapel with Alvin Wiles officiating. Burial was at Violet Hill Cemetery with arrangements by Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne, Ark.
Pallbearers were Dirk Simmons, Kenny Simmons, Robert Simmons, Michael Sipe and Danny Donavan. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Smith, Ronnie Morris and Steve Ullrich.
