Kermit A. Larson, 87, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., died Dec. 30, 2003, in Horseshoe Bend. Born at Wahoo, Neb., he was the son of Alred and Hannah Olsen Larson. He was employed by the Iowa Department of Trans-portation in Ames, Iowa for 37 years.
He was a World War II veteran of Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Wahoo, Neb., American Legion Post 344, Disabled American Veterans and Homeowners Association. He was an active leader in Boy Scouts for many years and was a member of United Methodist Church of Horseshoe Bend.
Survivors include his wife, Goldie of the home; one son, David Schmidt of Mountain Home, Ark.; three daughters -- Kathryn Leonard of Lake Wales, Fla., Valerie Bowden of Leesville, La., and Cynthia Parson of Horseshoe Bend; four sisters -- Elvira Graver of Colona, Ill., Alvina Eckert of Denver, Colo., Judith Vedvick of Madison, Wis., and Evelyn Nichols of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dennis; his first wife, Bernette; and two brothers -- Marvin and Wilmer.
A memorial service was Jan. 4, at the United Methodist Church in Horseshoe Bend with Everett Isom and Mark Ashcraft officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association or to the United Methodist Church of Horseshoe Bend.
