The driver of a 1998 Freightliner lost control of the truck as he negotiated a curve on Highway 167 six miles south of Ash Flat Aug. 27. The Elliot Truck Line tanker was hauling sulfuric acid which spilled onto the ground after the accident. The acid is toxic if it comes in contact with skin or is inhaled. TFC Wendell Jines of the Arkansas State Police was in charge of the scene until HAZMAT teams from Batesville and Memphis arrived.
