Accident report given by troopers

TROOP G -- Captain Billy Chadwick, commanding officer of Troop G of the Missouri Highway Patrol has released accident totals for the month of January 2002. During that time period Oregon County reported 12 accidents, no fatalities and three people injured as a result of those accidents.

Texas County was the high accident county for the first month of 2002 with a reported 41 accidents. Two fatalities resulted in Texas County and 31 people were injured due to those accidents. Wright County was the second highest accident county with 31 accidents reported, one fatality and 18 injuries.

Other counties in Troop G reported the following: Carter County - eight accidents, no fatalities, five injuries; Douglas County - 15 accidents, no fatalities, five injuries; Howell County - 12 accidents, no fatalities, seven injuries; Ozark County - 11 accidents, no fatalities, five injuries; Reynolds County - eight accidents, no fatalities, eight injuries; Shannon County - six accidents, no fatalities, one injury.

Captain Chadwick said during the first month of 2002 a total of 152 accidents were reported in the nine county Troop G area. three people were killed as a result of those accidents and 83 persons reported injuries.

During January 2001, 159 accidents were reported, five people were killed and 77 people reported injuries as a result of those accidents.
