John F. Simmons, 77, of Thayer, Mo., was born Feb. 17, 1926, in McAlester, Okla., and passed away May 5, 2003, at the Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Mo.
He is loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Neveska Jean Comb-Simmons of the home; eight children, Jr. Simmons and wife, Linda, Martha Hollis, Holy Crass and husband, Glen, all of Thayer, Diane Roberson of Mammoth Spring, Tom Simmons and wife, Connie of Norman, Okla., Kim Spencer and husband, John of Thayer, David Simmons and wife, Sheri of Cherokee Village, and Kamala Crone of Thayer; 27 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lee Simmons and wife, Jan of Covert, Mich.; a brother-in-law, Norman Nitz of Watervliet, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Patsy Griffith of Thayer; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and step-mother who raised him, as well as two brothers; two sisters; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were May 7 at the Clary Chapel with Bro. C. A. Starnes officiating. Interment was in the Thayer Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Mammoth Spring.
Pallbearers were Chris, B. J. and Hunter Simmons, Chad Hollis, Beau Roberson and Casey Crone.
